Before his appointment, he was the former special assistant to the general overseer on finance.
Pastor Johnson Odesola, who was the special assistant on administration and personnel, was also appointed as the church secretary.
Recall that last year, the church said those calling for his retirement because of his age were ignorant of the church’s doctrine.

Police Ordered To Release Architect In Charge Of Collapsed Uyo Church Building Tragedy In 2016

The Akwa Ibom state commissioner of police, Mr Murtala Mani, has been ordered to release Mr Anietie Augustine from custody, The Guardian reports.

The site of the collapsed building Augustine is the architect in charge of the Reigners’ Bible Church building that collapsed in Uyo on Saturday, December 10, 2016.

The order was from the commission of inquiry set up by the Akwa Ibom State government to unravel why the cause ofthe incident.

The chairman of the commission, Justice Umoekoyo Essang (rtd), having listened to Mr. Ini Ekpo, counsel to founder of the Reigners’ Bible Church, Apostle Akan Weeks, also adjourned hearing on the matter to Friday, January6.Ekpo said all the relevant documents, like architectural design, building plan, and the survey plan, were with Augustine, who has been held in the police custody.

He noted that except Augustine was released to give evidence, the case would not be smooth sailing.Counsel to Augustine, Mr Ekanem Ekanem, said the action for his client’s release has been long overdue.

He added that they had tried to release himsince he was detained, but their efforts have been futile. He explained that Augustine’s release would bring to light many things that were not in the open, adding that his client was being detained“for being the one to design the structure”although he knew that his client did not design any of the aspects of the collapsed church building.

His words:“He (Augustine) merely volunteered to carry out the design, which was already made by people that he has named; somebody designed the roof, somebody designed the structure, so he merely came to supervise what was already planned, drawn and designed.“I met him on two occasions while in detention and he told me what I’m just telling you now.

I asked him what was his roles; he said nothing, that he merely volunteered as he worshipped inthat church to check the work. He told me that he only joined the workforce as a professed member and worshipper of the church.

“Why do we now leave the people, who designed the building and mapped out everything to concentrate on the peoplethat merely assisted? It is like leaving the substance to pursue shadows.”

Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) have advised churches to stop holding worship services inside buildings under construction to avoid a repeat of the Uyo church collapse.

CAN also called for sanctions to be meted out to those who are responsiblefor the construction of buildings with substandard materials across the country.

Abuja Airport Cllosure Will Cause Revenue Loss For FG Agencies - Experts

Concerned stakeholders have faulted the alternative provisions for the planned closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport runway, Abuja between February and March.

Minister of state, aviation, Captian Hadi Sirika has a lot to do to convince stakeholders regrading his decision

According to The Guardian, the stakeholders said the move would bring much discomfort to air travelers and foreign airlines especially, forcing many to temporarily quit air travel to the northern part of the country.

The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, will be closed for six weeks between February and March next year. This was disclosed on Monday, December 19, by the minister of aviation for state, Hadi Sirika.

Flights will now be diverted to the Kaduna Airport, from where buses will take passengers back to Abuja in a two-hour road journey. With airlines and passengers quitting the region, revenue accruing to the regulatory agencies and ancillary services will drop, making required operations further difficult, the stakeholders argued.

The Chairman, Governing Board of the Nigerian Aviation Safety Initiative (NASI), Captain Dung Pam, said though temporary closure of the runway was for safety concerns, the effects would be too huge on the already troubled sector.

Pam said that the Kaduna airport would not be able to cope with the traffic that would be coming in, in terms of all the fixed-wing aircraft.

“It is going to be a serious dislocation of the nexus of our air travel system. Every major airport in the country connects to Abuja and Lagos.“So, to have that place completely shut down for six weeks will be a huge blow to travelling public.

They will be the ones that will be the worst of,”Captain Pam said.On his part, aviation security consultant,Group Captain John Ojikutu, said that the choice of Kaduna for air traffic diversion would scare most of the foreign airlines away.

According to him, with the security issues in the northern parts of the country, none of the American and European airlines will fly to Kaduna.

His words:“My only worry is that they want to use Kaduna for traffic and I ask the question, why can’t they use Minna?Minna may not be as good as Kaduna, but a 737 can land in Minna.

“For them to want to use Kaduna for foreign airlines, I have my doubts that the airlines will go there. It is for security reasons. The way security is built in the north is different from how we have built it here.

“If the people that are creating problemsall over the place want to draw world attention to themselves, they will go to that place and create the problem. The Americans and European airlines have their minds on that. They do not want a situation where they would be brought into the conflicts, in such a way as they will be used as scapegoats. So, they would rather go to Lagos to land.”

Report: Samsung Has Concluded Note 7 investigation On Why It Caught Fire Late in 2016

After discontinuing the Galaxy Note 7 late last year, Samsung quickly opened up an investigation to figure out exactly what caused the device to catch fire. Now, according to a report out of Korea, Samsung has concluded the investigation.

The report doesn't give us an exact time frame for when the investigation was finished, but it does state that it was very recent and that Samsung is keeping the results closely guarded to "very few people."

Samsung previously announced that the Note 7 explosions were caused by a battery defect in batteries from the company’s own SDI batteries, which were primarily used. After switching to another manufacturer, the issues persisted.

Due to that, Samsung will likely announce that the issue was something related to the hardware, not solely the battery.

The report also reveals that Samsung will be releasing the results of the investigation sometime in mid-January. Previously it was reported that the company would release those results be the end of 2016.Odds are, the company will take that oppurtunity to explain how it will avoid the same issue on future smartphones, like the Galaxy S8, as well as build back consumer trust to some extent.

Scientist says in case of a Biochemical Emergency; remove your bra to save your life

Could you ever imagine a bra that could be used for emergencies? Well the idea seems baffling at first because how exactly could a bra help you in any sort of emergency. Well as weird as it may sound, it can.
Read on to find out the famous emergency bra created by a Ukrainian scientist Dr Elena Bodnar

1 Useful in any biochemical situation

Dr Elena Bodnar a Ukrainian scientist has created the concept of an emergency bra which can be transformed into a face mask in event of a chemical explosion or any biological hazard. The device looks just like an ordinary bra but if by chance you suddenly find yourself in an explosion or a gas leak then all you need to do is separate the cups form each other, place the cup interior over your mouth and nose and use the strap to firmly grasp it in place.
The emergency bra converts into an effective gas mask where one cup is for the wearer and another can be given to someone in need standing next to you.

This Season Won’t Be A Failure If Man City Don’t Win Premier League – Pep Guardiola

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has insisted that it wouldn’t have been a bad season, even if they failed to win the Premier League title.

City are now 10 points behind leaders Chelsea, after they lost 1-0 to second-place Liverpool in the last game of 2016.

Guardiola says they must forget about chasing down the Blues and concentrate on improving their performances.“Now what we have to do is believe in the next game,” Guardiola told a news conference.

“It’s not worth putting a lot of stress: ‘If wedon’t win the Premier League that is going to be not a good season.’

“We are going to analyse what happened at the end of the season with the people —if it was good, not bad. Now we are just going to focus on the next game with Burnley.”

Guardiola has won the league in six of his previous seven seasons as a manager with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, but says England is a different challenge.“I was normally always at the top,” he added.

“At Barcelona and Munich I won a lot of times but this is a new chapter in my career as a manager to handle that, and I am willing to try it with these guys.”

BREAKING: Donald Trump Declares War On Obama, Asks For List Of Employees Obama Appointed

Donald Trump’s transition team just asked the Obama administration for a list of employees that have been working on climate change, terrorism, and gun control.

This comes after the news that Obama said Trump would lose in an election to him., and after Obama sanctioned Russia for alleged hacks.

FOX NEWS

The inquiries began earlier this month when transition team members submitted 74 questions to the Energy Department regarding climate change and other policy issues, including two about staffers who worked on President Obama’s climate agenda.

Energy officials have pledged to cooperate with the incoming Republican administration but didn’t provide the staffers’ names. The transition team hastily struck the questions, but not before a storm of criticism.

Max Stier, founding president of the Partnership for Public Service, which started the nonpartisan Center for Presidential Transition, told FoxNews.com that both sides handled the matter “appropriately”but that the personnel questions were “unusual and unsettling.”

“Career employees are responsible for executing the policy directives the president sets,” Stier told FoxNews.com.

“You don’t hold people accountable for the policies set by people elected by the American public. That’s just wrong.”

Killing Of Another Nigerian In South Africa, Unacceptable – Abike Dabiri

The Senior Special Assistant to the Nigerian President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has described the alleged extra-judicial killing of a Nigerian in South Africa as ” worrying and condemnable”.

In a statement Dabiri-Erewa said the latest gruesome killing of Tochukwu Nnadi by Police in South Africa, was unacceptable to the people and government of Nigeria.

While reiterating President Muhammadu Buhari’s calls to Nigerians to avoid crimes like drug peddling which attracts stiff penalties, sometimes death, she however noted that the killing of Nnadi had brought to 20 Nigerians killed in South Africa through extra-judicial means in 2016 alone.

“The barbaric behaviour of the perpetrators is not only unacceptable, but also calls for urgent attention by diplomatic authorities in Nigeria and South Africa,” she said.

Dabiri-Erewa urged the South African government to ensure that justice prevailed by carrying out investigation and bring the culprit to book.

She reiterated her calls to Nigerians living abroad to always respect the laws of their host countries and be good ambassadors of Nigeria.“While appealing to Nigerians to avoid crimes, the extra-judicial killing of Nigerians is condemnable and unacceptable” she added.

A Nigerian based in South Africa, Tochukwu Nnadi, was allegedly choked to death by Police in South Africa on Thursday, December 29, 2016 after he was arrested for allegedly selling drugs.

According to eyewitnesses, the man, popularly known as King Kingsley, was not struggling after he was arrested and handcuffed, but one of the officers held onto his neck and squeezed tightly until blood started gushing out.

“My heart goes out to the families of the deceased and pray God to grant the departed soul eternal rest”, the SSA prayed. The Nigeria Union in Pretoria has confirmed the alleged killing.

The Secretary of the union, Mr Adetola Olubajo, told newsmen in Pretoria that “Nigeria Union is calling on the Nigerian Mission to demand results of investigations of all murder cases involving Nigerian victims from the South African authority,’’ he pleaded.

Olubajo said that the union was not happy that all murder cases involving Nigerians in South Africa were never resolved. In the year 2016 alone, it has brought to 20, the number of Nigerians killed in South Africa under such cruel circumstances.

Among such victims were Ikejiaku Chinedu, Monday Okorie, Gideon Ogalaonye, Nnamdi Michael, Adeniyi Olumoko, Christian Onwukaike and Tochukwu Nnadi.

Nigerians are perennial victims of the xenophobia in South Africa, with Nigerians losing more than 4.6 million Rand or 90 million Naira during the last attacks.

About 150 South African business organisations are currently operating in Nigeria, despite the South Africa’s allegedly restrictive policies, which havemade it difficult for Nigerians to invest in the country.
